Call Inspector

Call Inspector is a diagnostic feature that tracks API calls as they pass through the system. It provides detailed information on how requests and responses look as they pass through different points.

You can use Call Inspector for call inspection, such as troubleshooting API calls or supporting new integrations. Enabling the call logging option on the Log Settings tab for a specified endpoint and period captures API call data.

important
  • Only these Area-level Control Center roles - Administrator, Call Inspector Administrator, and Call Inspector User can access Call Inspector.

  • An area Administrator can assign the Call Inspector Administrator and Call Inspector User roles to other users.

The following are the access restrictions for the different Call Inspector roles:

  • Call Inspector Administrator: With this role, you have access to the Cloud API Management dashboard (Control Center) and can view, enable, and configure Call Inspector on the Viewer and Log Settings tabs.

  • Call Inspector User: With this role, you have access to the Cloud API Management (Control Center) dashboard and can view data only on the Viewer tab. You cannot configure Call Inspector on the Log Settings tab.

Log Settings

The Log Settings tab of Call Inspector captures API call logs. You must configure all the necessary settings in this tab to capture calls. Upon successful capture, the logs will appear on the Viewer tab.

note

Only Administrator and Call Inspector Administrator roles can access the Log Settings tab.

Viewer

The Viewer tab of Call Inspector filters and displays API call details, such as inbound requests and outbound responses. To learn more about viewing call details, refer to View Service Call Details.
